(Assistance) EPS to SketchUp
Is there a way to convert an EPS file, import it into SketchUp and get smooth arcs? I have an EPS file of a client's logo that I am working with. I have tried using Illustrator to export a DWG and then import that into SketchUp. The result is very noticeable facets in all of the arcs. In the by I have manually redrawn the arcs in SketchUp with a higher arc segment number. With this file though, I will take a lot of cleaning up to exercise. Any tips an how to do this without having to redraw it in SketchUp?

Re: (Help) EPS to SketchUp
If y'all take Adobe Illustrator this may help:
1. Open your EPS file in Illustrator and select all.
2. Become to Object>Path>Add Anchor Points. (by default when you click this it adds an ballast bespeak in the centre of every other anchor indicate you have) The smoother y'all want your curves the more than Anchor Points you will want to add.
3. Then go to Object>Path>Simplify and check the "Straight Lines" box. Bring your "Bending Threshold" down to 0. You can check the preview box and see how information technology looks.
4. Consign equally a .dxf/dwg file and insert into SU.
five. Redraw 1 line so SU volition recognize the shape and fill.
This is not an original solution by me.
Information technology was posted on the onetime @Last forums but I can't remember by whom.

C'était moi, naturellement. Ouch! but got my head stuck in the door frame.
Aye, every bit my fellow Liverpudlian says, you need to make up one's mind the number of nodes, then convert the bezier to straight lines before export from Illustrator...otherwise you stop up with thousands of segments.

Re: (Help) EPS to SketchUp
Information technology is a shame SketchUp doesn't import EPS files directly or any other 2d vector/filled plane format (svg, wmf, emf, and so on).
I find this a large deficiency in an otherwise impressive piece of software. Sketchup ignores the windows clipboard making it a solitary runner every bit far as workflow is concerned. Interaction with other software is at all-time clumsy.
SketchUp Layout shares this contempt for the Windows clipboard. Logo'southward, clipart, symbols and the like have to be reengineered.
Interaction with both programs is an exiting experience unfortunately punctuated by awkwardness when one tries to utilise the benefits of other software.
To a higher place all the requests for SketchUp development I would like to see this issue addressed.

How-do-you-do!
I'yard new to this forum (and relatively new to Sketch-up) and I'm facing the same problem every bit Max. When I attempt post-obit the steps, I just stop upwards with a bunch of segmented curves. I suppose it's because I don't know how to follow the final stride (redrawing the line so SU will recognize the shape). Can anyone explicate how this is done?

Re: (Assistance) EPS to SketchUp
hi,
i wonder, if we finally get some stable and reliable tool to import vector files, like cdr, ai or eps to SU ?
coreldraw helps me to become complicated 2D design into SU, via dxf file.
when drawing contains minimum points, information technology´s become distorted. if contains enough of points,
it´s become very complicated for further editing. (weld plugin too)
is there any plugin to get into into SU in perfect shape with minimum points to share our time and patience please?
maybe it´south fourth dimension to tell the SU creaters to add import for vector formats into college version of SU.
cheers !
